Shrubbery Randomness

One of the things that I love, love about our 'hood is the opportunities for randomness.  For example, last weekend, we were walking down the street and found this amazing shrubbery ball!  I can't decide if I want to cover it with white Christmas lights and treat it like an disco ball or dress it up like Oscar the Grouch for Halloween.  What do you think?

Ruby Street Bounty

Oh the joys of late summer and early fall....
cherry tomatoes, peppers, and green beans from the yardway

Peppers fried up and salted.  Delish!

Back Porch Paradise

Okay, paradise might be a bit of an overstatement, but the back porch is definitely a welcome little retreat and gets great afternoon sun.  We've moved the white outdoor furniture up, stowed the cushions in a new basket/side table, and managed to keep the plants from my grandmother's deck in San Jose happy and hearty.  Iced coffee and apricot tart don't hurt either.

The next Ruby Street meal

Minus the puff pastry, we could produce this delicious looking treat from the Ruby Street garden:

Mini tomato basil tarts from spabettie.  Yum.
