Meanwhile in Philadelphia...

EG now proudly calls this rowhouse home.  It's in the Northern Liberties neighborhood, near a great public park and dog park, and no longer snow covered.

First purchase for the new home:  composter!

The house is in good shape overall.  EG is squeezing in the contractor-required work this summer between research trips.  We'll work steadily on the work we can do ourselves over the next year: painting, yard work, and hopefully kitchen counter upgrades.  By the holidays we should be party ready!  More soon....

Drawn Ruby

In 2005, Andy Goldsworthy installed Drawn Stone at the de Young Museum.  Essentially a crack that creates a path to the front door of the museum and welcomes visitors, the museum describes the piece as "inspired by the unique character of California’s tectonic topography."

Also drawn from California's tectonic topography, er, activity, we have our own welcoming crack at Ruby Street, now known as Drawn Ruby.

 

Goldsworthy fans take no offense.  Imitation is flattery in this case, and I'm looking forward to seeing "The wall that went for a walk" at Storm King later this summer.

It's Official

Posting was non-existent while we made our way through the closing checklist--we didn't want to jinx it.  But having dodged the usual (and unusual) last minute surprises and delays, we just got word that we are on record!  On time!

That means that the cracked stucco...

and the damaged (original) wood floors...

and the duct taped windows...

... are ours!
